Welcome to DivorcePost: You're Going to Be Okay
Divorce is not just paperwork. It's not just lawyers, finances, and custody schedules.
It's waking up at 3 a.m. wondering what happens next. It's trying to stay calm for your kids while your own world feels unrecognizable. It's the exhausting mix of fear, anger, guilt, and relief that arrives in no particular order — and underneath all of it, the question so many people are afraid to say out loud:
"Am I going to be okay?"
Here's what we want you to hear first: yes.
Not because divorce is easy, and not because it all works itself out on its own. But because the thing that makes divorce feel unsurvivable usually isn't the divorce itself. It's making permanent decisions while you're in the hardest emotional stretch of your life.
That part can change. That's why we built DivorcePost.
Why We Start Before the Lawyers
Most divorce support arrives too late.
By the time someone hires an attorney, the emotional damage is often already done. Conversations have escalated, trust is gone, and decisions are being made from panic instead of clarity. That's where the expensive mistakes happen — and they're rarely legal mistakes first.
The first 30 days shape almost everything that follows: the text you fire off at midnight. The reactive move on a joint account. The parenting decision made in anger. The conversation you'd give anything to take back.
DivorcePost exists for the window before those moments become permanent. We help you slow down, get grounded, and make decisions your future self will thank you for.
We're Not Here to Fight for You. We're Here to Help You Think Clearly.
Lawyers matter. Therapists matter. Friends and family can carry you.
But none of them are built for 9 p.m. on a Tuesday, when you're sitting in your car after a hard conversation trying not to spiral — and there's no one to call who won't take a side.
That's the gap DivorcePost fills. We're a mental-wellness-first divorce support system, which in practice means we help you:
- Name where you actually are emotionally, before you act on it
- Interrupt fight-or-flight decision making
- Put your children's stability first
- Prepare for hard conversations instead of walking in cold
- Find the next right step — not the whole plan
Sometimes the best move isn't doing more. Sometimes it's pausing long enough to choose.
Divorce Is a Nervous System Problem Before It's a Legal One
People treat divorce as a legal problem. It starts as a physiological one.
When stress takes over, your brain stops optimizing for your five-year outcome and starts optimizing for surviving the next ten minutes: fight, flee, freeze, or shut down. That isn't weakness. It's biology, doing exactly what it evolved to do.
The trouble is that divorce asks you to make some of the largest decisions of your life — about money, about housing, about your children — precisely when your nervous system is least equipped to make them. Temporary states, permanent consequences.
Why Tonya Built This
Our founder, Tonya Lanthier, started out as a dental hygienist.
That isn't a detour in this story — it's the origin of it. Chairside, she spent years with people who were frightened, guarded, and trying to make decisions while their body was telling them to bolt. She learned early that people need to feel cared for before they can absorb anything else.
In 2005 she built DentalPost, which grew into the dental industry's leading job platform, serving hundreds of thousands of professionals and practices. Then she sold it — and went through her own divorce.
What she found waiting there was a system that looked a lot like the one she'd already fixed once: outdated, isolating, and organized around everything except the person in the middle of it.
Twenty-five years in healthcare had already taught her the thing most divorce professionals miss:
People don't make bad decisions because they're uninformed. They make bad decisions because their nervous system is overwhelmed.
Escalation, fear, and unmanaged grief are what drive conflict — not a lack of intelligence or good intentions. Almost every divorce industry is built for the informed-decision problem. Almost none of them are built for the overwhelmed-nervous-system problem.
That's what makes her coaching different. She doesn't just walk you through your options; she helps you get regulated enough to actually evaluate them. She spots escalation patterns before they turn into blowups. She knows grief well enough to tell the difference between a decision made from anger and one made from clarity.
And she's done it herself — not in theory, but in real life: while running a company, raising children, and building a co-parenting relationship most people told her was impossible.
She calls the move from DentalPost to DivorcePost "deeply personal." It's the same instinct that started the first company, aimed at a harder problem. Everything DivorcePost does is built on what she learned solving it for herself first.
What Support Actually Looks Like
We don't hand you a 40-step checklist on day one. We start with what's in front of you today.
Maybe that's:
- Finding out whether the rage you feel is normal (it is)
- Getting ready for a conversation you've been dreading
- Pressure-testing a financial decision before you make it
- Building a little stability for your kids this week
- Having something ask, "What do you need most right now?" — and actually wait for the answer
Our AI-guided support and coaching is available 24/7, because hard moments almost never happen during business hours, and healing doesn't keep a schedule.
It's also private in the way that matters most right now: what you tell DivorcePost doesn't get repeated back to you later. There's no mutual friend who might mention it, no family member forming an opinion, no one keeping score.
On the technical side, we'd rather be specific than reassuring. Your data is encrypted in transit. We don't sell your personal information, and we never hand private app content to advertisers. Internal access is limited by access controls and reviewed. When you use the AI companion, your message and recent context go to our AI provider to generate a response — that's how the feature works, and we'd rather you know it than assume otherwise.
What we won't tell you is that any system is perfectly secure. Ours isn't; no one's is. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy, written to be read rather than skimmed past.
And to be clear about what we are and aren't: we're not your attorney, and we're not a substitute for therapy or crisis care. We're the support that helps you walk into those rooms clear-headed — and holds steady in all the hours in between.
You Don't Need to Have It Figured Out
You don't need the full plan. You don't need perfect answers. You don't need to feel calm, confident, or ready.
You need one step.
One pause before reacting. One decision you won't have to undo. One moment of remembering that your future is still yours to shape.
